Jamie Newman – Head Women's Basketball Coach, Bethesda University

Jamie Newman brings decades of basketball experience and leadership to Bethesda University as the new head coach of the women’s basketball team. He previously served as the athletic director for seven years and history teacher for three years at Downey Christian School, where he helped shape one of the most recognized prep basketball families in the country.

Alongside his wife, Vivian, Jamie co-founded Prodigy Prep Academy, which gained national attention for competing in the Grind Session—the premier high school basketball circuit in the U.S. Known for developing elite talent, Jamie has built a vast recruiting network and a reputation for nurturing student-athletes both on and off the court.

Respected by peers and beloved by those who know him personally, Jamie is recognized not only for his coaching acumen but also for his humility, character, and unwavering commitment to helping others. He now leads Bethesda’s women’s program with passion and purpose, aiming to build a culture of excellence and integrity.
