Bethesda Flames Win Both Games in Two-Game Series vs. USK Firebirds

Escondido, Calif. - Bethesda University Flames defeat USK Firebirds 5-4 and 11-1 on Saturday.

In the first game from the Flames Ivan Galindo Scored two, Chris Carpio, John Peukert and Joel Avina scored one each.  Justin Nathasingh got the win for the Flames, striking out eight and walking one. David Martin threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Flames. John Peukert led in hits and Dylan Schafer led in stolen bases

USK Firebirds had two home runs done by Brady Ware and Clayton Ross. Clayton Ross and Jake Finley added another run each. Clayton Ross and  Brady Ware led USK Firebirds in hits and Peter Lutz in stolen bases.  

In the second game Flames scored six runs in the second inning on its way to an 11-1 victory over USK Firebirds. Tyler Rios had three, Chris Carpio had two, and Raul VillaDylan Schafer, Ivan Galindo, and Joel Avina each had one RBI. Scorers of the game were Dylan Schafer, Chris Carpio, John Peukert and Raul Villa with two runs each and Louis Tornero, Ivan Galindo, and Joel Avina with one run each.

David Martin led the Flames to victory on the mound, throwing three innings, allowing three hits and zero runs and earn one strikeout. Antonio Elizalde threw two innings in relief, recorded the last six outs and earned save for BU Flames.

Casey Petersen took the loss for USK, allowed zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking one. Cole Brooks led Firebirds with two hits in two at bats and earned one stolen base. Alan Pellacani scored one and stole one base.

The Upcoming games for the Flames are in Tucson Invite from March 13 until March 16. 2019 where they will play vs. Luther College, Mayville State, and Lourdes University.
